Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine

Sounds familiar? It's Pink Floyd, kids!

This piece is somewhat connected with this picture: [link] - but shows a bit different stage of Annush's life, when her wings are already gone and all that remains is phantom pains, two ugly scars and intolerable sadness when seeing others fly.

Oh, to be honest, it was nothing but a sky/water excercise, and Annush doesn't seem to fit the composition, but who would fave a picture without a wolfy in it?

I love the composition of this piece, I really have a thing for tall images.
Such a pretty view of the sky too, extremely realistic I think. I love skies like that, they're sorta mysterious and foreboding. Dark below and lighter above, very lovely. The bird is a nice touch, great show of distance.

Somehow I'm fascinated by the composition of this picture.

The format you chose fits perfectly and makes it look even more interesting.
And the dark mood at the bottom and the light colors on top express the character's will to flying so nicely.
As you already mentioned yourself, the character itself doesn't seem to fit perfectly. Maybe a few little hints of dark blue (like the color of the sky/clouds) or a litle bit of brown (like the sand) could help. :]

Anyway, it's a very well done picture.
I like it.
